A Child is born to us! A Son is given to us! And He will be our ruler. He will be called, "Wonderful Counselor," "Mighty God," "Eternal Father," "Prince of Peace." (Isa 9:6)

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Saviour, the King above all.

We can never celebrate the birth of Jesus without looking ahead to His death on the cross where He paid for every sin. We can never celebrate the cross without looking ahead to His resurrection and to His ascension. Jesus went to heaven where He is preparing a place for us and now we are looking forward to the day when He will come again on the clouds.

"For God loved the world so much that he gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life." (John 3:16 GNB)

  • God gives you His Son, Jesus, the Saviour of the world – a gift not wrapped in shiny gift-wrapping, but wrapped in strips of cloth. A gift not under a Christmas tree, but in a manger.
  • God gives you a light that can shine in the darkness of this sinful world. The Light is bright and beautiful and invites you to God. Jesus is the light.
“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness (John 12:46, NIV)”
  • God gives you a cross, the cross where Jesus paid for every sin; where He bought you with His blood; where you can be cleansed and set free; where you can receive eternal life. Jesus is the Saviour.
“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. (1 Timothy 1:15, NIV)”
“Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord (Luke 2:11, NIV)”

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. (Romans 12:1, NIV)”

This Christmas … will you make room for Jesus in your heart?
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12, NIV)”

Father thank You for sending Your Son to earth. I revel in the birth of Jesus and the gift of life He brought. I choose to receive Your gift of love and forgiveness for my sins. I now surrender everything I am or ever hope to be to You. Please take control of my life and direct my paths. I promise to follow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
